I’ve always looked forward to turning 21, being treated as a grown up. Getting to do grown up things. Well to be honest. Being 21 is not much different to being 20.. Especially in this country, because everything you are only aloud to do at 21 in the USA. You can do here at 18. So this is more a post of everything I’ve learned from entering the “GROWN UP WORLD” (it even sounds scary just typing it out).
1. Money will always be a problem.
No matter how much money you make, it will always be too little. There are always something pretty that you “NEED”. Places you have to be or things you can’t live without and then you get the real life grown up things like. Rent, Groceries, Fuel, Debt, Cellphone payments, etc. So I try to save up as much as I can. Just for incase I run out.
2. No matter how rough it gets. It’s still beter than school.
Look I loved school. The freedom, the 4 holidays a year, the getting home early. It’s all fantastic, but it is still not better than getting home and knowing you accomplished something today that will in fact mean something in your life.
3. You gotta love your job.
I’ve had 3 different jobs since leaving school (and no, I’m not a job whore). It all happened due to unplanned circumstances. However loving your job is so important, in all 3 different jobs that I’ve done I’ve learned that there will be days that even though you love your job you just don’t want to go to work. The thing is though, as soon as you love your job. Those days become less and you actually look forward to going to work.
4. Balance.
So you’re working from 8:00 to 17:00 everyday, then you spend two extra hours in traffic. Then you have to make time for your friends, your family, your boyfriend, your animals and yourself. This is why balance is so important. Schedule your days. I know this works because I’m doing it every week. Just always always remember to make time for yourself.
5. Enjoy every moment!
Do this because it goes by so fast. Enjoy the little things. The sunrise in the morning. The way your blanket folds around your body perfectly. The way your boyfriend makes the perfect cup of coffee. Enjoy all the moments.
It will always be a struggle between the good , the mellow and the bad days. It’s up to you how many of each you experience.
