Let me tell you two things about myself, first of all, I love music festivals, secondly, I love being prepared. So yes I know Oppikoppi is still 41 days away.. [ sad face ] but I've already made a list of what to take with. This will be my second Oppikoppi and as a girl going alone with a bunch of guys, well let's just say there are a few things that guys just don't think of and don't care about.
So here is my "girly-fied" oppikoppi packing list:
Clothing:
Pack at least two jeans, and a lot of warm clothes the nights get very chilly, make sure that you have enough so that you don't have to go to bed cold. Also pack summer clothes, because the days are f-ing warm and the sun is a bitch!!! Pack shoes, not your favourite though.. the dust is way more than you can ever imagine possible and you do not want to mess up you favourite shoes!!!
Protection:
1. Sunglasses
2. Sunscreen
3. Lip Ice
4. Hat
5. Condoms. ( because ya never know)
Girly things you will need:
1. Perfume ( and a lot of it, because the chances of finding a hot shower is very very very slim)
2. Make- up, because after day two of drinking, dust, wind, sunshine, you will look like a monster.
3. Brush, and all hair things
4. towel, cloth, shower gel, [ just in case you find a hot shower]
5. Mirror.
6. Tooth brush and tooth paste
7. Toilet paper... because there will never be enough.
8. Wet wipes - your own portable shower.
Sleeping:
1. Pillow
2. Sleeping bag
3. Blow up mattress
4. Extra blankets
5. Tent
6. Lock and key to lock up your tent
Eating and drinking:
1. FOOD. you can buy there but it can get pricey.
2. ALCOHOL. you can forget your food, don't forget your drinks.
3. Braai.
4. Pan
5. Paper plates
6. Plastic knives and forks
7. Picnic blanket
8. Glasses
9. Shooter glasses
10. Empty lunchboxes ( for the left overs)
11. WATER: LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER!!!!!!
12. Cooler bag
Things to keep in your backpack:
1. Money - ( you will put this on your oppikoppi card)
2. Car charger
3. Car keys
4. ID's
5. Drivers license
6. Plasters
7. Head ache pills
8. Meds that apply to you.
9. Flash light
10. Camera
Extra things you might forget about:
1. Water bottle ( you can buy the oppikoppi one and get free refills)
2. Refuse bags, to clean up camp after the weekend
3. Camping chairs, because sitting on the ground stops being fun on day one.
4. Tampons, because you or your neighbors might need it.
It is so much better if you have enough space to pack this, and enough time to unpack this. So make sure you rent a big bakkie and go early enough!!!
